What We Provide For Your Child
The focus of this program is to help students transition into the independent learners they need to become in order to experience successful high school years. They will be given the ample opportunity to work on their presentation skills. As students follow a chronological timeline in history, they will be studying relevant geography and reading literature pertinent to that time period and location. Students analyze rich literature focusing on content, comprehension, the poetry of language and the structure of writing. In grammar, a strong emphasis is placed on the parts of speech, parts of the sentence, phrases and clauses. Students work through the Institutes for Excellence in Writing Program to add a repertoire of writing strategies to their writer's toolbox.
For 7th grade science we use the Apologia General Science textbook which is a comprehensive overview course of many scientific disciplines. The students will be required to execute a science project at the conclusion of this study. Most eighth grade students take Apologia Physical Science as an excellent preparation for more difficult, laboratory sciences of high school.
